Now with that year-long wait, that means that Imposters - which is shaping up to be more than just a simple shooter — will be packed to the brim with customizable characters, weapons, abilities, and more. Along with the release announcement, Warner Bros. also announced a price for the downloadable title at a comfortable $14.99 (or 1200 MSP) for your gaming pleasure.

The concept is a bit of a surprise at first, since most people would consider the real Batman and Joker to be the logical choices for any game set within the comic book legend’s world. But there’s no denying that the game has its own unique style.

Take a look at the brand new official trailer:

Gotham City Impostors seems to be taking its cues from games like Brink and Team Fortress 2, focusing more on the team action and unity to get the objective done. In this game’s universe, it seems that the crazed nature of Gotham has taken over, pitting every man and woman against eachother. With players using weapons like firework rocket launchers, jack-in-the-box landmines, boomerangs, and everything in between.

With the upcoming release of Batman: Arkham City, it’s a good tie-in and way to give players and fans of the Batman universe a unique and more light-hearted insight into the world. It’s not like there are any discrepancies in continunity or story per se, since DC Comic co-publisher Jim Lee has even signed off and loves the idea himself.

It may be a year-long wait, but that just means that Gotham City Impostors will have more time to grow on you along the way.
