Last we heard about online heists, all Rockstar Games could say was that they were coming ‘soon,’ while neglecting to delve into specifics. Today however, the studio offers a little more information, revealing that online heists are now scheduled to come after the PS4 and Xbox One versions launch; specifically, in the game’s first update.
Remember, online heists will be available on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, so no GTA Online player will be left out. To encourage that players shift to the newer versions, though, heists may come to the current-gen platforms first.
Continuing the trend of leaving people wanting more, Rockstar further stated that more details about the heists will be shared ‘very soon.’
The online heist news came alongside a new infographic that details several GTA Online statistics, showing data collected between October 1, 2013 and October 31, 2014. As you can probably imagine, GTA Online’s population kept themselves quite busy post-launch. As Rockstar put it:
Here are a few of the stats (they include some very impressive numbers):
33,834,423 Global Players 5,925,761,013 Online Jobs Played 9,881,536 Online Jobs Created 2,330,825,301 Hours Played in 224 Countries 3,545 items used to wreak havoc in Los Santos and Blaine County, with an additional 1,200 added via updates
When GTA V comes to new consoles, it’ll contain new, exclusive content for returning players, as well as a first-person mode that shows the game in a whole new way. This one feature alone may make the second release worth it.
Grand Theft Auto V releases next week on November 18, 2014 for PS4 and Xbox One. PC players can expect the game on January 27, 2015. To keep yourselves pumped up for the return trip, maybe go re-watch the launch trailer from earlier this week.
