[HTML2] At E3 2014, developer 343 Industries revealed that the next chapter of Master Chief’s journey would begin later this fall with the release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, a single-disc compilation developed exclusively for the Xbox One (and maybe PC). It wasn’t the Halo 5 announcement that many had been hoping for after last year’s tease, but The Master Chief Collection was still a nice stopgap and a perfect holiday gift for diehard fans....

With the updated Ascension map the first to be confirmed for The Master Chief Collection, followed soon after by Coagulation, Sanctuary, and the always-beloved Zanzibar, it was clear the developers at 343 and Certain Affinity were finding a balance between fan-favorites and functionality. Now Gamespot has revealed the first images of Lockout, an arena-style, close quarters map known for its iconic Gravity Lift and the glowing green containment area at its lowest point....

If we were measuring on the more literal grounds of storage capacity, however, it looks like 343 has already taken the crown. An informational page has gone up on Xbox.com (entitled “Optimizing Your Multiplayer and Campaign Mode Experiences in Halo 4”) revealing that Halo 4’s multiplayer requires an 8GB installation to the Xbox’s hard drive or an appropriately-sized USB flash drive - though the former is highly encouraged: Unpretentiously, the page goes on to recommend various flash/hard drive purchase options that are available for the Xbox 360, including the gargantuan 320GB hard drive....

The Glee star, 33, had gone swimming is now feared to have drowned. A number of local media outlets—KNBC and NBC Los Angeles—are reporting that her son Josey Hollis was found alone on a rented boat on Lake Piru. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department (VCSD) said it responded to a report of a toddler alone on a rented boat on the lake on Wednesday and authorities identified the missing person as Rivera later on Wednesday night....

Strahan, Sara, and Keke was canceled in July, and co-host Keke Palmer has recently spoken to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live about the show ending. In this interview, she said the cancelation had been “expected,” with the fun tone of the show out of touch with the times. She said, “When the pandemic hit, that’s what became all on our minds—the pandemic, corona, understanding COVID—so, I kind of knew that if our show did come back, it would have to be much, much, much, much later....

Late last week, we even got word of further unveilings in the coming days - and now we’ve got the full reveal of God of War multiplayer mayhem in Ascension, including gameplay footage of the mode in action as well as batch of new information. Details on the new mode are, at this point, pretty limited - and it’s unclear whether the multiplayer in God of War: Ascension will fall under the uninspired, tacked-on, experience category (we’re still looking at you Dead Space 2) or a fun, albeit mostly brainless, offering that adds extended replay ability by way of allowing players to revel in a game’s enjoyable combat mechanics (Mass Effect 3)....

Ribery was a key member of the side that reached the World Cup final in 2006, but he was banned for three-matches for striking at the finals four years later. The Bayern winger then retired after missing the 2014 tournament with injury, citing “purely personal” reasons. However, Ribery still enjoyed watching France’s success in Russia this year, telling Tolisso of his pride. “[Ribery] congratulated me, of course,” Tolisso told France Football....

Savannah Smith plays Monet de Haan, one of Julien Calloway’s “minions” who loyally served her throughout the first five episodes. Episode 6 dropped on Thursday, August 12—and she was noticeably missing from it. In the week leading up to the episode’s release, Smith could not be seen in any of the trailers or artwork for the series. Where is Monet and will Savannah Smith return for Gossip Girl Part 2?...

One such franchise to jump on the mircrotransaction train is Gran Turismo 6, Polyphony Digital’s latest simulation racer. The game has been in development for several years now, but it was only earlier today that we finally caught wind of the microtransactions. Gran Turismo 6 deploys the fairly standard microtransaction business model — offering in-game currency in exchange for real currency. That in-game currency, called Credits, can then be used to bypass Gran Turismo 6’s natural progression and unlock better cars earlier....

With an open in-game world slated to be larger than Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto 4 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas combined (and larger than real-life Manhattan), it would most certainly be a letdown if the studio had offered an underwhelming number of achievements in Grand Theft Auto 5. To that end, Rockstar delivered (sort of). Recently, the following list came to light. Overall, 38 of these achievements have been plainly laid out on the Xbox360Achievements....

As well, this year Raptr has decided to do things a little differently and limit most of their categories to launch window statistics. That means the nominees and eventual winner were games that dominated playtime statistics within their first 30 days of release, not throughout the year. So, without further ado, let’s get on to the awards. Grand Theft Auto 5, Rockstar’s latest open world sequel, took the top prize — Most Played New Game of 2013 — trouncing all of its competition....

The developers may not have unveiled the game at Gamescom like we’d hoped, but the time since has offered a few juicy tidbits. The newest screenshots highlight rural dirtbiking, parachuting through a forested canyon, and a taste of Los Santos’ finer things. We’d like to assume some of the activities look a bit more exciting than others, but who are we to judge? Obviously the team behind Grand Theft Auto 5 will be striving to outdo the last installment, both in terms of mechanics and the larger game world itself....

The Portugal international lifted his fourth Ballon d’Or on Monday, moving just one behind Messi’s haul, and feels that competition for the trophy would have been fierce if they played for the same club. The 11 countries that snubbed Ronaldo Since 2010, either Ronaldo or Messi has lifted the trophy, but the Madeira native feels that he would have come out on top if Messi was his team-mate. “It would be interesting to see both of us in the same team,” Ronaldo told France Football ....

Muslim, Christian, Jewish and other speakers paid rich tributes and spoke about Ali’s fight for civil rights, while a message from President Barack Obama praised his originality. The interfaith event took place hours after his coffin passed through the city streets. The procession passed through important spots in Ali’s life before heading to the ceremony for the private burial. In one neighbourhood, several young men ran alongside the hearse carrying a placard which read: “Ali is the greatest, thanks 4 all the memories”....

The Bucs quarterback on Wednesday tweeted a video of him blowing into a conch shell, summoning Gronkowski out of retirement for another run at a Super Bowl together: MORE: Brady thrown out of public park, completing his transition to Florida Man The tweet is a callback to a previous video of him channeling his inner Ron Burgundy from the movie “Anchorman.” If you’re still lacking context — or have been living under a rock — these videos are an homage to a scene in “Anchorman” where Burgundy summons his old crew via conch shell....

Throughout the weekend many of them were still trying to make sense of it all. The pilot and one of his first officers fought the man out of the cockpit and into business class, where passengers helped subdue and handcuff him. The other first officer put the craft back on course. A few passengers and crew members reported relatively minor injuries. When the plane landed at last, Kenyan authorities took the man into custody and hospitalized him under heavy sedation, withholding his name for unexplained “security reasons....

Nevertheless, more than one full year after release, PC gamers are finally nearing the non-console release of Grand Theft Auto 5. The new-gen versions of the game included some fun surprises, most notably a first person mode, in addition to better load times and remastered graphics. While the PC version isn’t going to include many additional features, aside from fan mods, Rockstar Games is providing a hefty incentive for early PC gamers who pre-order GTA5 two months ahead of its March 25, 2015 release date - a free downloadable title and $1,300,000 (in game currency)....

When it launches with the latest GTA DLC, “The Diamond Casino Heist,” iFruit Radio will feature 27 tracks, including songs from DaBaby, Skepta, Travis Scott and Freddie Gibbs. [HTML1] The prospect of Microsoft’s first-party blockbuster, Halo, going mobile has been a tantalizing one ever since the initial game launched back in 2001. Fast forward to 2013 and Microsoft has finally revealed its plans to do just that with an exclusive new top down shooter called Halo: Spartan Assault for Windows 8 PCs and tablets, plus Windows Phone 8. Being developed by 343 Industries in conjunction with Vanguard Games, this new bite-sized Halo title takes place between Halo 3 and Halo 4 — effectively meaning that Master Chief is nowhere to be found....

And one of the available games I made sure to play was the new Halo… but it wasn’t the eagerly anticipated followup to 343 Industries’ Halo 4. Hopping on Windows 8 powered Surface tablets, Game Rant writer Anthony Taormina and I each took the opportunity to try out Halo: Spartan Assault, the recently announced twin stick shooter for Windows 8 devices (both smartphones and tablets) and Windows 8 PCs, developed by 343 Industries and Vanguard Games....
